چکیده

A finite element thermal analysis was conducted in this study with the aim of evaluating influence geometrical parameters steel sections on their response under solar radiation. Four W12 and W24 standard beams were investigated irradiation conditions a sunny summer day. The carried out using COMSOL Multiphysics considering Sun’s movement from sunrise to sunset, reflected radiation ground, surface convection air long wave as main boundary loads. temperature-time variation at different locations sections, vertical temperature distributions, gradient distributions stress investigated. results showed that daily maximum temperatures, variation, stresses are influenced by geometry section. flange width thickness found be controlling during noon hours, while these addition web depth control shading effect afternoon. On other hand, affects webs sunset times. Geometrical ratios like Wf/H, Wf/tf2 2Wf/Htf most influential gradients subjected section value 0.96 (W12 × 58) recorded highest top-surface temperature, 84 lowest 0.60 exhibited temperature.

Numerical and Experimental Study of Geometrical Dimensions on Laser-TIG Hybrid Welding of Stainless Steel 1.4418

In this paper, a three-dimensional finite element model has been developed to simulate the laser-TIG hybrid welding (HLAW) of stainless steel 1.4418 with thickness of 4 mm. Transient temperature profile and dimensions of the fusion zone and heat affected zone (HAZ) during welding process are calculatedusing finite element method (FEM) and were solved in the ABAQUS/Standard software. The heat sou...

Using Solar Spatial Analyst to Calculate Global Solar Radiation, 22th Region of Tehran as the Case Study

Solar Radiation is considered as an important parameter in modeling environmental, hydrologic and biophysical processes. One of the reasons that solar radiations are not extensively used in models is the problem of its measurement in different points. Solar Analyst Viewshed Algorithm makes possible calculation of the topographic effects on solar radiation at local and landscape scales. With res...

Steel Beams with Web Openings

The responsibility of a Structural Engineer lies in not merely designing the structure based on safety and serviceability considerations but he also has to consider the functional requirements based on the use to which the structure is intended. While designing a power plant structure or a multi-storeyed building, the traditional structural steel framing consists of beams and girders with solid...

A Parametric Study on the Progressive Collapse Potential of Steel Buildings under Truck Collision

In this paper, the initiation and propagation of structural damage in a building due to the truck collision to one of its corner columns were investigated. For this purpose, a three-dimensional 4-story moment resisting steel frame with intermediate ductility was considered. The structure was designed using ETABS software under standard dead, live, and earthquake loads, and then impact loading w...
